Zoe is a woman haunted by her lack of identity and her struggles to adapt to her new environment. Cautious and careful, she keeps her head down and tries to get by however she can. She cannot quite comprehend certain concepts that other residents of Smytheville take for granted, and this has instilled in her a burning curiosity to find out just where things came from, even if no one in Smytheville actually knows the answer. She is generally pleasant, but there is definitely a meaner side to her, as she finds certain things get under her skin more than they reasonably ought to; alongside her struggle for identity, she struggles to keep her snappish side in check.

Johannes is a man who lives in his own little world half the time, dreaming and planning things the world has never seen. However, reality does not always comply with his wishes, and he finds himself in frequent clashes with his superiors over what he should do. Equal parts clever and naive; he can be childishly ignorant of the world beyond his front door. He is a person of extremes: his temper can flare up rather easily, and when he is in his inventing streak, he tends to ignore the world for days on end. This makes him rather difficult to get along with, though he is not an unkind man; he has emotions and feelings for others like everyone else, it is just that they do not share his eccentric worldview, and thus are alienated by his behaviour.

He has a bit of a womanizing streak, but this plays into his love of life. His enjoys his profession, even if it is not as esteemed as his brother, and he tries to be the dutiful son to his ailing mother. His relationship with Johannes is slightly strained due to Felix’s more realistic perspective on things, and he finds himself his brother’s keeper more often than not. Still, the brothers are close even if they will not admit it. He is loyal to his family above all else, even if he does occasionally become frustrated with them.

Catherine “Kitty” Walker

Kitty WalkerName: Catherine “Kitty” Chloe Walker
Age:18
Sex: Female
Birthday: June 3
Nationality: Born and raised in Smytheville

Hair: Strawberry blonde; very wavy and reaches to a little above her waist

Other: One hole in each ear

Family: Mother (Mary, died at 30); father (Aaron, 50)
Occupation: Daughter of the village Patriarch

Catherine is a sheltered woman, one who hasn’t seen much of life due to her position. This has enabled her to live in a world of her own half the time, one of fancy clothes and balls – her family can afford such a lifestyle easily, but she dreams of even bigger and grander things. She enjoys the finer things in life, as they play into her fantasies, and sometimes she cannot understand why others cannot have the same luxuries. She is a sweet, kind woman, almost to a fault, but her lack of socialization as a child (combined with the similarly dreamy people she keeps for company) means that she is not quite sure how to adapt to new people or situations, and thus can come off as charmingly awkward. Still, she has a good heart.

Occupation: Patriarch of Smytheville

Aaron is a man who is devoted to two things: his profession and his daughter. Haunted by his wife’s death, he took the only reminder he had left, their daughter, and latched on to her. This lead to him becoming very overprotective of her, trying to shield her from the dangers of the world. When it comes to his profession, he is strict – he performs all the necessary rituals for it every time they need to be performed. However strict a man he is, he does have a caring side; it simple manifests itself in strange ways. All things considered, he is an effective leader, and life in Smytheville is good because of it – but his strictness does not lend itself well to change.
